Firsts steps Amy Jo was born in Cape Cod, Massachussets, on October 6th, 1970. She was a normal little girl, but as many of us, she had a dream: She wanted to be a gimnast. So, when she was 7, she started in gimnastics and began to improve in Cape Cod Gymnastics Club. A few years later, she become international, because she competed in the U.S. and in Europe.
When she was 19, she left her parents and Cape Cod, her hometown, and she went to live to New York. There, she couldn't go to the Olympics and she thought she had wasted ten years of her life training to become a good gimnast, but some time later, it was that training that helped her to get her first role: Kimberly, the pink ranger. Also, Amy Jo studied method at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and at The American Musical and Acting Academy here, in New York.
Big break After a year and a half, she took her car and went to LA. During the first two month she was there , she tough that LA wasn't doing it for her, so she back home. But there was the begining of her actress career. Two weeks later, she noticed that the executive producer of Mighty Morphing Power Rangers was looking for someone with gymnastics ability. She got luck and she was offered the new job, as power ranger. So, she made her own way in Los Angeles. In a few months, she has new friends, a house,... and all that every one could have. She assimilated the LA way of life.
Power rangers become quickly the most popular kid's show on the Fox network. Amy Jo couldn't believe it. She was famous and she was her begining!!! In a few months, she traveled to Sydney, Australia to make her firs film, with the cast of the tv serie.
Her best time Amy Jo wanted leave the show to have more time for herself. She wanted to play the guitar, to write her journal, to sing, to paint,... and to make all she wanted and she couldn't. So she left Power Rangers and after roling the character of Susie Q, a TV film, she left the TV show.
During 1996 and 1997, Amy Jo had starring roles in 3 films: The first fils was Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, that was a film that Amy Jo couldn't refuse because she felt she owed a debt of gratitude to the man who gave her first break. The second film was Killing Mr. Griffin, in where Amy Jo and her friends of a hight school attempt to murderer her theater teacher, Mr Griffing. It was too exciting for her. The last film, was perfect body, that was the movie of the week, Amy Jo leave hight school to begin intensive training with a renowed coach. The character becomes anorexic.
Amy Jo becomes a singer Now it's time to rest and to do all she want, because she don't have any new job or any new film to do, so, she spend more time on her music. She lived comfortably off of her savings until she get her new job, because she saved all the money she earned. Then she meet J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves and they offered the role of Julie Emrick, the best friend of Felicity. She agreed and the serie became very popular. She was lucky again.
After filming the series pilot, Amy Jo was a reluctant vampire in Cold Hearts. She also starred in Without limits. A few years later, she left her character of Julie Emrick.
Now, Amy Jo lives in LA and she has play other characters, like Sweetwater in 1999 in where she is Nansi Nevins, or Pursuit of Happiness. This year has been a good year for Amy Jo, who has done two films: Interestate 60 and Infested. But now, she has decided to left her films and tv series and become a musician. She has her own album - The Trans-American Treatment, which is going to be a good album plenty of great songs, and she is now recording the second album.
She starts as a producer Nowadays, Amy Jo is recording songs in Bosnia for her new album. It promises to be a very good album, with lots of new and original themes. She is also recording a new movie called 'Arbie' and she started as a producer with the movie 'In memory of my father'. This hasn't been a year with lots of TV appearances, apart from her new role as a rookie oficial in the serie 'The Division'.
Movies, series but no music 2005 and 2006 was a great years for AJ, filming Arbie (2005), Fatal trust (2006), Magma, 6 episodes of Wildfire, Islander (2006), three more of What about Brian (2006) and much much more. She has also bought a new domain on the Internet www.amyjojohnsonmusic.com and she has redirected the old one to the new one, so, she is working hard on her domain sites.
Singing again!!! By November 2007, she updated her both sites announcing that she will be on a Live by January 31st of 2008, in Canada, so... She will become an international singer! Good luck AJ!
