TrailBlazers from CosmoGIRL! Magazine, Oct/Nov '99 Amy Jo Johnson and Lisa Rotondi don't have to be told to take a hike.... by Jeffrey Epstein
Not only are Amy Jo Johnson and Lisa Rotondi best friends, but their dogs are too. "They were boyfriend and girlfriend, but they broke up a while ago", jokes Lisa as their pups scamper around the dog run at Laurel Canyon Park in Los Angeles.
When Amy Jo and Lisa met in acting class four years ago, they clicked right away. Lisa had just moved to San Diego from Minnesota to be a dolphin trainer. "But I failed the swim test", says Lisa matter-of-factly, "so I decided to come to Los Angeles". "And now she's an actor![/quoe] says Amy Jo, finishing Lisa's thought.
Getting Their Kicks Acting is what Amy Jo and Lisa do when they're working-but hiking is what they do when they want to have fun. The pair love taking their pups-Lucy, Amy Jo's boxer and Jack, Lisa's German Shepard-up the trails. "It's not really hiking though", Amy Jo admits. Apparently after she tackled the hill behind her Glendale, California home with her friend Johnny, he cleared up any confusion. "The next time I said 'Let's go hiking'", Amy Jo says, smiling, "Johnny said, 'Okay but I just wnat you to know that going up thathill is not hiking, it's walking up a trail!'"
Whether they're hiking, walking or just hanging out, Amy Jo and Lisa never have trouble finding a good time. Early in their friendship, they bonded playing a silly game at Lisa's house. "Lisa used to live in this huge, awesome converted warehouse in Venice Beach", explains Amy Jo. "it had been a market, so there was a meat locker. We used to go in the meat locker and come out and pretend we were different people. I would knock on the door and she'd open it and I'd be somebody different every time".
[quote]We would do this for hours", says Lisa, laughing. She has since moved, and the girls were bummed to discover that the game isn't nearly as fun in the small closets of her new place.
